Important Notes Regarding Guided Kayaking Excursions.
- Kayaking is physically demanding and if you feel that you are not up to it, it is best not to attempt it.
- Some kayaking experience is highly advised.
- Unless other arrangements are made, you are responsible for handling your own transportation to the put in site.
- Unless noted otherwise, you are responsible for your own food and drink.
- You must sign a release form prior to embarking on a kayaking trip.
- Water in the Carquinez Strait is cold, a wetsuit though not required is greatly advised.
- Kayaking is not without it's risks, conditions can vary wildly within even a few minutes.
- As most of you know, beach combing results can vary widely from one day to the next, as such some trips will be more productive then others.
- The map above shows the general area of the trip and does not provide exact details nor route that will be taken.
- You can bring along pieces of sea glass found on your own beach combing excursions in order for Charles to appraise them and or make jewelry from them.
- Charles is known for wearing a wetsuit, surfing booties, life vest and a collecting bag while kayaking. Though you do not need to wear the same gear as Charles, plan on bringing a towel a change of clothes and if you choose to, similar gear as to what Charles will be wearing.
- No collecting buckets, small bags work best.
- One of the benefits of beach combing with Charles as your guide, is he will give up most of his finds.
- Full payment is due at the time of your booking in order to secure your reservation.
- If you fail to show up at the prearranged location at the predetermined time, you will be not be refunded your deposit. If you provide a minimum of one week notice of cancellation you will receive a full refund of your deposit less a $5 processing fee.

Notes Regarding Kayaking the Carquinez Strait
- The Carquinez Strait has been very active throughout history, the towns of Martinez, Port Costa and Crockett dot it's southern shores while to the north you find the city of Vallejo, the community of Glen Cove and the historic town of Benicia.
- For many years Benicia was one of the ship building capitols of the world and at one point was even the capitol of California.
- Many once thriving waterfront warehouses, homes and businesses have since fallen into disrepair and all that is left is wooden posts in the water.
- You can find nearly every color along the banks of the strait, though you will have to sift through much more recent glass shards. The patina while not the same as the bay or the ocean is very soft on the older pieces.
- Expect to find several handfulls of sea glass on one of these trips.
- Black amethyst light bulb insulator bases can be found here.
- China fragments, old pottery, buttons and other artifacts may be found as well.
